What Is Brachioplasty?

Brachioplasty, commonly known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure aimed at reducing the size of the upper arms and restoring a firmer, more toned contour. It suits individuals troubled by heaviness or sagging of the upper arms, whether from genetics, ageing, or significant weight loss.

At Truffel Healthcare, Dr. Matwa offers two main approaches. The first is arm liposuction alone, which removes excess fat to slim the arm where skin tone is still good. The second is arm liposuction combined with excision of excess skin, a true arm lift, for patients who also have loose, hanging skin. This second approach leaves a fine scar placed along the inner aspect of the arm, where it is least visible.

The right approach depends on the balance of excess fat versus loose skin. Dr. Matwa assesses each arm carefully during consultation and recommends the technique that delivers the most natural, proportionate result.

Indicative Cost

Key Benefits

Slimmer Arm Contour

Removes stubborn fat to slim and define the upper arm in proportion with the rest of the body.

Two Tailored Approaches

Liposuction alone where skin tone is good, or liposuction with skin excision when loose skin is present.

Discreet, Well-Hidden Scar

When skin is excised, the incision is placed along the inner arm where it is least visible.

Firmer, Toned Appearance

Tightens the silhouette of the arm so clothing fits better and the arms look firmer.

Renewed Confidence

Many patients feel comfortable wearing sleeveless clothing again after years of self-consciousness.

Lasting Results

With a stable weight, the fat removed does not return and the refined contour is long-lasting.

The Surgical Process

1

Assessment & Marking

Dr. Matwa evaluates the balance of excess fat versus loose skin on each arm and makes precise markings for the liposuction zones and, where needed, the skin excision.

2

Anaesthesia

The procedure is performed in a sterile theatre under general or regional anaesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery.

3

Liposuction & Skin Excision

Excess fat is removed by liposuction to slim the arm. Where loose skin is present, the surplus skin is excised and the incision is placed discreetly along the inner arm.

4

Closure & Compression

Incisions are closed in layers and a compression garment is fitted to support the arms, reduce swelling, and aid skin retraction during healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Arm liposuction alone leaves only tiny 3-4mm access points that become virtually invisible. If excess skin must be removed (arm lift), there will be a scar, but it is carefully placed along the inner aspect of the arm where it is least noticeable, and it fades significantly over 12-18 months.
It depends on your skin quality. If you have excess fat but your skin still has good elasticity, liposuction alone can slim the arm beautifully. If you also have loose, hanging skin, common after major weight loss or with ageing, skin excision is needed for a firm result. Dr. Matwa advises the right approach at your consultation.
Discomfort is generally mild to moderate and well managed with prescribed pain relief. Most patients describe a tight, bruised sensation for the first week that steadily improves.
Most patients return to desk work and light daily activities within 1-2 weeks. Strenuous arm exercise and heavy lifting are avoided for about 4 weeks. A compression garment is worn to support healing.
Yes. The fat cells removed do not regenerate, so with a stable weight the slimmer contour is long-lasting. Significant weight gain can still affect the result, so maintaining a healthy weight is recommended.
